How do I update or change my Watchdog contact information?

Watchdog is the University of Indianapolis emergency contact system powered by Connect-ED. This system will be used to notify UIndy faculty, staff, and students in cases of weather or life/safety emergencies affecting the entire campus.

All students, faculty and staff are highly encouraged to update this information on a regular basis.

To submit phone numbers for Watchdog, follow the steps below:

  1. Log into My UIndy (http://my.uindy.edu).
  2. Click on the Self-Service & Watchdog link.
  3. Click the Personal Information & Watchdog link.
  4. Click the Update Emergency Contacts link.
  5. Click New Contact to create a new entry or click on an existing contact to update the information.
  6. The Relationship, First Name, and Last Name fields must be filled in. For a Watchdog contact, only the phone number is needed in addition to the above fields. (Note: If any address fields are filled in then all address fields will have to be filled in.)
  7. Choose the appropriate option for Relationship: either Watchdog Primary Number or Watchdog Alternate Number to use the contact phone number to notify you in case of campus emergency. Only one contact can have a Relationship of Watchdog Primary Number. Up to four additional phone numbers can have a Relationship of Watchdog Alternate Number. Selecting another Relationship will prevent that contact from receiving Watchdog emergency messages.
  8. Click Submit Changes when you are finished.
  9. Repeat these steps as necessary to enter all desired phone numbers to be used for the Watchdog system. Other contact information may be entered using different Relationships even if it duplicates Watchdog information.

Your UIndy e-mail address will be used as a Watchdog contact. To submit an additional e-mail address for Watchdog, follow the steps below:

  1. Log into My UIndy (http://my.uindy.edu).
  2. Click on the Self-Service & Watchdog link.
  3. Click the Personal Information & Watchdog link.
  4. Click the Update E-Mail Addresses link.
  5. To enter a new address, choose Watchdog E-mail from the pull down menu for Type of E-mail to Insert: To change an existing Watchdog E-mail, click on that address.
  6. Only one non-UIndy e-mail address may be classified as Watchdog E-mail. The UIndy e-mail address will be used automatically as one emergency contact and cannot be removed or changed.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Type the full e-mail address you want to use into the E-mail: box.
  9. Click Submit.

E-mail addresses and other bio-demographic information submitted to the University, either via e-mail or through feedback via a Web form, is used internally by the University solely for the purpose of serving its constituents better. The University does not sell, rent, or otherwise distribute this information to any unauthorized third party.
