Do I have to use the virus scanner provided by the University if I live in a Residence Hall?

But if you own a computer that runs Windows, you should have an antivirus program that is capable of updating on a weekly basis.

Many computers come with trial versions of antivirus software. These trials will stop updating after the trial period expires; however, the software will continue to run.

Antivirus software that does not update is NOT SAFE.

Please note: Information Systems reserves the right to remove virus infected systems from the University network. To ensure that this does not happen, either purchase the antivirus program of your choice or download the antivirus program provided by the University.
